In Ramallah, staat op de scheidingsmuur tussen Israel en Palestina de tekst 'Leave your message after the beep, at the Amsterdam Kunstvlaai + 31(0) 629477284' gespoten. Een foto van de tekst in Palestina is op ware grote te zien op de WALL tijdens de Kunstvlaai. Twee luidsprekers versterken de telefoonberichten.

In front of the Gashouder, a wooden wall is placed. This wall is divided among the artists of the Petersburg Project Space in Amsterdam. Every day, another artist fills in his own ideas about the concept and gives the wall its own different meaning. Because of the uncertainties around the renting of the space, the artists of the Petersburg Project Space placed a wall outside, to symbolize the fact that their space is endless. In this setting, the wall forms the centre instead of a border. Today the wall is given to the artist-duo PIEK! (Sander Leemans and Selby Gildemacher). They decided to expose a picture of an existing wall at the border between Israel and Palestine. At the website sendamessage.nl people can pay money to place their own personal texts on this wall. As the text on the picture claims, every passenger can call the telephone number of the Kunstvlaai and leave a message for all the people that are around. Their voices will be heard through the speakers here in Amsterdam, in front of the Gashouder.

Wall is in opdracht van Peterburg Project Space gemaakt
Context:
Petersburg Project Space designed a specific wall to serve as a physical barrier inside the project space Petersburg will be introducing May 24th. The partition defines the border between the public exhibition area, and the private executive area. 
On Kunstvlaai 7, we will present a copy of this barrier, WALL, in the outside-exhibition-part of the art fair. 
Concept :
WALL emphasizes and denies our space. By taking the barrier from our project space into the public field, an infinite artist run space is formed. By way of this 'displacement' we want to redefine the value of the WALL outside. Inside Petersburg Project Space the wall is functional; separating the private and public space. Outside the wall is an obstacle which will need to be transformed into a center point.
